Lack of Transparency and Unresponsiveness – Disappointing for International Families As a parent of a prospective international student, I was truly disappointed by our experience with Wilgimmo. Over a period of more than six weeks, I tried repeatedly- by phone and email - to reach someone for a simple conversation about available studios, actual pricing, and the application process. Unfortunately, I received no meaningful response, only vague and inconsistent information. My son’s application was ultimately rejected on the grounds that our stated budget of €620/month was too low. However, €620 is by no means a low budget for a student studio in Leuven—especially considering that our declared budget was actually higher than the prices listed on the Wilgimmo website. When we attempted to clarify this, we were told that the rent prices are listed as “from,” but no information was provided about the actual upper range. This lack of clarity leaves the strong impression that the real prices may be significantly higher than advertised. The process felt confusing and unnecessarily opaque. The absence of open communication and a clearly explained selection process raises questions about how decisions are made. If the process is unclear before a student even moves in, I worry about the support and reliability that would follow afterward. We chose not to proceed further, and I would advise other international families to look for housing providers that offer more transparent pricing and a responsive, respectful communication process.
