As renters, we felt disrespected and really ripped off. For 1 year, we rented an apartment and conscientiously took care of it like our own, and deep-cleaned everything at the end of the lease. Nonetheless, Ms. Bruno deemed that the apartment was "not clean enough", pointing out things such as water stains on black bathroom fittings and - literally - dust. Photos proving that the apartment was in a significantly worse state at the time of moving in (unfinished foods in kitchen cupboards etc.) were deemed irrelevant, since we "had not complained at the time". Correct, we simply dealt with the issues and expected a similar amount of grace in return, but no. As two professionals in their mid-30s, we were berated like children for "not using the correct cleaning products" and essentially being slobs. Clearly, the intention was to charge us for an overpriced professional cleaning. In the end, we were charged for a patch of damaged wallpaper (granted, our cat had caused some damage) and a veneer coming off an MDF under-sink cabinet in the bathroom. We were charged 600 and 400 euros, respectively. Ms Bruno may be good at defending the interests of her landlord clients, but if you are a renter looking for fair treatment, run.
